Since the approval of the expansion of the President Lech Kaczynski LNG (liquefied natural gas) Terminal in late 2018, Poland has intensified efforts to end its dependence on imports of Russian gas. The approval of the Baltic Pipe offshore natural gas pipeline project, with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year (BCM/yr), is expected toward the end of the year, while the Polish transit pipeline operator, Gaz-System SA, considers the construction of a floating LNG Import Facility in the port of Gdynia.
