Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--India's state-run lignite producer Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC) (BSE: 513683) (Chennai) has invited Expression of Interest (EOIs) for supply of Main Plant equipments for a 1,980 megawatt (MW) coal-fired project to be set up in Uttar Pradesh.
NLC has sought EOIs for steam generator and auxiliaries (GA1-SG) as well as for steam turbine generator (GA2) packages for the project, on behalf of its joint venture named Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL) (Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh). Government of Uttar Pradesh-owned Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) (Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh) is co-promoter of this joint venture company.
According to NLC, the successful bidder for GA2 package will supply three steam turbine generators operating under supercritical parameters along with auxiliaries for three units of 660MW each, as specified in the EOI document. Similarly, for GA1-SG package the selected bidder would be required to supply three pulverized coal-fired variable pressure supercritical steam generator (SG) units with electrostatic precipitators and associated auxiliaries.
Due to be developed over an area of 1,011 hectares at Ghatampur in the Kanpur Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, the power project will have three supercritical units of 660MW each. The plant will use 80 cusecs of water which will be provided by the State Irrigation Department from the adjoining Fatehpur canal. NLC has also proposed to enhance the capacity of the project by installing three more 660MW units in the second phase of expansion of the project.
NLC is the largest producer of lignite in India. The company is a leading state-run power producer. The company presently operates four mines with a total capacity 30.6 million tons per annum (MTPA) and four thermal power stations of total capacity of 2,740 MW.
NLC has also proposal to establish a power plant with a capacity of 4,000 MW in Tamil Nadu. It is also planning to bid for Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPP) of 4,000 MW under tariff based competitive bidding and other power projects.
