Researched by Industrial Information Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Weston Power Stations (Rothschild, Wisconsin) Unit 3 was tripped offline after it was struck by lightning October 6, 2007. Plant engineers have said the lightning caused significant damage, knocking out both the AC & DC power, as well as the DCS system. The damage is estimated to be more than $2 million. Officials have said the lightning was so severe that the unit will be out of commission until at least November until further notice.
