Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The maximum load of the quake-hit Sichuan grid reached 13.21 million kilowatts (kW) on June 5, 2008, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) announced. Before the major disaster, the grid's maximum load on May 12, 2008, was 13.01 million kW.

As of June 5, 2008, six counties and one district in the earthquake disaster area have partially restored power. Beichuan County is under the State Grid Corporation of China (Beijing); and the Qingchuan, Lixian, Songpan, Wenchuan, Maoxian counties, and the Wolong natural reserve are under local grid enterprises, according to SERC.

After 20 days of relief efforts, 15 hydropower stations around the Zipingu dam on the Minjiang River have completed repairs, and other hydropower stations with less serious damage resumed operation, the Disaster Relief Headquarters of the Ministry of Water Resources announced on June 3, 2008.
