KIA Supplier Begins Site Preparation on $30 Million Automotive Stamping Plant in Georgia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Korean automotive supplier Dongwon Autopart Technology, a subsidiary of Dongwon Metal Company Limited (SEO:018500) (Gyeongsan, Gyeonsanbuk), has started site preparation for a $30 million automotive stamping plant in Hogansville, Georgia, that will serve the KIA Motors manufacturing plant under construction in West Point, Georgia.

Site preparation began this month with construction anticipated in July on a 150,000-square-foot building. Overall completion is expected by the end of the year. Manufacturing equipment will be shipped from Korea. The stamping plant will manufacture door frames, side-impact beams, roof molding, side absorbers and cross bars for the West Point plant. West Georgia D & D Construction Company (LaGrange, Georgia) was selected to perform site work for the stamping plant, and Shannon, Strobel & Weaver Constructors & Engineers Incorporated (Auburn, Alabama) was chosen to construct the plant's building.
