Transco Plans Sentinel Natural Gas Pipeline Project

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corporation (Transco) (Houston, Texas), a subsidiary of Williams Companies Incorporated (NYSE: WMB) (Tulsa, Oklahoma), has started construction on the first phase of its $28 million Sentinel Project. The project will expand the Transco pipeline system by an additional 142,000 dekatherms of natural gas for deliveries to markets in Pennsylvania. Transco will construct 22 miles of new 42-inch-diameter pipeline loop originating at its Bear Creek compressor station 515.

Transco awarded S&B Infrastructure Limited (Houston, Texas) the design and engineering contract for the project, and the construction contract for the pipeline was awarded to Henkels & McKoy Incorporated (Blue Bell, Pennsylvania).

Transco began construction on the first phase of the Sentinel Project in mid-June and expects to complete it by November of 2008. Transco will begin construction on the phase II portion of the project in the summer of 2009, with a completion date set for November of the same year. The second phase will include the construction of an additional 18 miles of 42-inch-diameter pipeline looping in New Jersey, costing approximately $32 million and will add an additional 102,000 dekatherms per day of capacity.
