Iberdrola Renewables Begins Construction of $170 Million Hay Canyon Windfarm in Oregon

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Iberdrola Renewables (Portland, Oregon), formally known as PPM Energy, has started construction of the $170 million, 100-megawatt (MW) Hay Canyon windfarm near Wasco, Oregon. Iberdrola Renewables is a subsidiary of Iberdrola S.A. (MCE:IBE) (Bilbao, Spain).

Construction began earlier this month, And the project is scheduled for full commercial start-up by the end of 2008. The project consists of building up to 48 2.1-MW Suzlon wind turbine generators southeast of Wasco. Once completed, Hay Canyon and the Pebble Springs windfarm, which began construction this spring, will increase Iberdrola's Pacific northwest wind portfolio to more than 1,000 MW and help to service customers in Oregon, Washington and California.

D.H. Blattner & Sons Incorporated (Avon, Minnesota), will provide the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services for the project.
