Milford Windfarm Utilizing Variety of Wind Turbine/Generator Suppliers

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Milford Wind LLC (San Diego, California), a subsidiary of First Wind Holdings LLC (Newton Center, Massachusetts) (formerly UPC Wind Partners LLC), has commenced construction of a 300-plus-megawatt (MW) windfarm near Milford in Beaver County, Utah.

First Wind selected M.A. Mortenson Company (Minneapolis, Minnesota), one of the leading windfarm constructors in the United States, to install three types of wind turbine/generators (WT) sets at the Milford site. The project will require over 150 WT sets. Clipper Windpower plc (LSE:CWP) (Carpinteria, California) will provide about 71 Liberty C-99 2.5-MW WT sets, General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) will provide 39 GE 1.5xle 1.5-MW WT sets, and Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Randers, Denmark) is to supply 49 1.65-MW V82 WT sets. Construction completion and commercial operation is targeted for the third quarter of 2009.
