Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) has released the 8th edition of the North American Coal-Fired Power Generating Wall Map. This edition features details of operational coal-fired power plants as well as projects under development in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, including utility- and IEP-owned facilities.

Currently, 527 coal-fired power plants are in operation in North America (U.S., Canada and Mexico). There are also 14 plants under construction, and 34 plants are in the engineering stages of development. In addition to utility-owned coal-fired generation, the map identifies 158 industrial plants that have on-site coal-fired generation capability. Otherwise known as Industrial Energy Producers (IEP), these plants have a total of 322 coal-fired units and more than 5,400 megawatts of generating capacity.
