Reported by Annette Kreuger, Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The University of Georgia (Athens, Georgia) has completed construction of the $44 million Pharmacy South addition, the first building on campus designed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards. The certification is the national benchmark for design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (Atlanta, Georgia), the project construction manager, began construction on Pharmacy South in 2007. The new building is located adjacent to the existing Robert C. Wilson Pharmacy building and is now open for new and returning students for the current 2009-10 school year.
