Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Central Southern Electric Power Design Institute (CSEPDI) (Wuhan, China), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), signed the engineering and procurement contract for the boiler, turbine and generator package of KVK Nilachal Thermal Power Station's 350-megawatt (MW), coal-fired unit in Hyderabad, India, on October 19, 2009.
CPECC recently announced that among the leaders and representatives who attended the signing ceremony were Mr. Zhao Jie, vice president of CPECC; Mr. Xie Qiuye, president of CSEPDI; Mr. K. Vijay Kumar, chairman and chief executive officer of KVK Energy and Infrastructure Private Limited (KVKEIL) (Hyderabad); and Mr. A. Ranga Raju, managing director of The Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited (NCC) (Hyderabad).
Nilachal Thermal Power Station is a coal-based power plant in Kandarei, Atthagarh Tehsil, in the Cuttack district of Orissa, India, with a total planned capacity of 1,400 MW, to be built in two phases. The project is to be built and invested by KVK Nilachal Power Limited (KNPL) (Orissa, India), a subsidiary of KVKEIL. NCC is served as the general contractor of the project. According to the Environmental Impact Assessment Report prepared by Pioneer Enviro Laboratories & Consultants Private Limited (Hyderabad), one 350-MW coal-fired unit will be built in Phase I, and three 350-MW coal-fired units will be built in Phase II. Total investment in the power station will be about $1.36 billion, including about $340 million for Phase I and $1.02 billion for Phase II.
"This is the first engineering and procurement contract ever signed by CSEPDI directly with an overseas project owner, and also one of the largest overseas projects currently under implementation by the institute," said president Xie of CSEPDI on the ceremony.
KVKEIL is a subsidiary of KVK Energy plc, an India-focused power project development and investment company established in 1998.
CSEPDI, as the regional subsidiary of CPECC in central and southern China, has been actively engaged in the nation's "going abroad" policy.
