Construction started in May 2004 on a flue gas desulfurization scrubber project at the Pleasant Prairie Power Station, owned and operated by We Energies (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) (a trade name of Wisconsin Gas and Wisconsin Electric Utilities), a primary subsidiary of Wisconsin Energy Corporation (NYSE: WEC) (Milwaukee, Wisconsin).

The plant, which became operational in 1980, is located in Pleasant Prairie, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, about thirty miles south of Milwaukee.
Washington Group International Incorporated (Boise, Idaho) is the prime contractor for the project. The company will be subcontracting out fabrication, roofing, specialty electrical, and steel work.
