Huntsman Progresses with Construction of New R&D Complex in Texas

Huntsman LLC (The Woodlands, Texas), a subsidiary of Huntsman Corporation (Salt Lake City, Utah), is well underway with the construction of a new research and development complex in The Woodlands, Texas. Huntsman acquired an existing 70,000 square foot building and some additional acreage adjoining the site to construct a new R&D building, approximately 176,000 square feet in size.

This new complex will be home to most of Huntsman's R&D activities in North America. During 2005, Huntsman is planning to close four existing R&D locations across the country and consolidate its functions into this one new site, when it becomes operational in the early summer of 2005. Locations that will be closing in 2005 include West Deptford, New Jersey; Brewster, New York; Chicago, Illinois; and Austin, Texas.

Civil construction is complete and steel will soon be erected for the estimated $20 million new building and labs. Fretz Construction Company (Houston, Texas) is responsible for erecting the new building, and LCS Constructors Incorporated (Houston, Texas) will install the lab equipment and process systems. Current schedules call for a move sometime in June or July 2005.
