Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Apex Clean Energy (Charlottesville, Virginia) has announced another power purchase agreement (PPA) with Facebook parent Meta Platforms Incorporated (NASDAQ:META) (Menlo Park, California), which boosts Apex's clean-energy portfolio with Meta to more than 1 gigawatt (GW). Industrial Info is tracking more than $18 billion worth of active projects attributed to Apex Clean Energy.
"The success of our company and our mission, to accelerate the shift to clean energy, relies on partnerships with first movers like Meta that have set ambitious standards driving the energy transition," said Mark Goodwin, president and chief executive officer of Apex Clean Energy, in a press release announcing the agreement. "This portfolio, now totaling more than a gigawatt, represents a diverse set of best-in-class wind and solar projects in markets across the United States."
The most recent agreement is for all of the output from the 195-megawatt (MW) Angelo Solar project in Texas, which is expected to utilize photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on a single-axis tracking system. The project is in the late planning stage, and its construction kickoff is expected in October. According to the press release, the Great Pathfinder project will help support Meta's operations in the region, including its data center campus about 40 miles away in Altoona, Iowa--where a $125 million Phase VII expansion is underway to add about 467,000 square feet and 30 MW of critical load power.
