Constellation Energy to Buy Stake in Texas Nuclear Plant - Utility firm Constellation Energy (Baltimore, Maryland) said on Thursday it would acquire NRG Energy Incorporated's (NYSE:NRG) (Houston, Texas) stake in a nuclear plant in Texas in a deal valued at $1.75 billion. After the transaction, Constellation will be one of three owners of the 2,645-megawatt (MW) South Texas Project Electric Generating Station. NRG's 44% interest represents about 1,100 MW of output. Equinor Says Hammerfest LNG Plant to Resume Operations June 8 - Equinor (NYSE:EQNR) (Stavanger, Norway) plans to restart production at its Arctic liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Hammerfest, Norway, on June 8 after it was shut down on May 31 due to a gas leak, the company said in a market message on Thursday. Equinor halted production after it detected a gas leak on a cooling circuit valve. The leak had been plugged late on Wednesday. Canada to Back $3 Billion in Loans to Trans Mountain Pipeline - The Canadian government is backing up to C$3 billion (US$2.24 billion) in loans for Trans Mountain Corporation (Calgary, Alberta), the crown corporation building an over-budget and long-delayed oil pipeline expansion to Canada's Pacific Coast. The information was disclosed on Export Development Canada's website this week and shows two new loan guarantees signed in late March and early May. The Trans Mountain Expansion will nearly triple the flow of crude from Alberta's oil sands to Burnaby, British Columbia, to 890,000 barrels per day and is intended to boost access to Asian refining markets.
