Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Enel Green Power North America is breezing out of 2016 with the completion of three-major wind projects this month. The 108-megawatt (MW) Drift Sand Windfarm in Oklahoma, the 400-MW Cimarron Bend Windfarm in Kansas, and the 65-MW Chisholm View II Windfarm in Oklahoma have achieved commercial operations.

The completion of these large utility-scale wind projects has increased the company's overall wind capacity in the US to more than 1.5 gigawatts. Enel Green Power North America is part of Enel Green Power S.p.A (Rome, Italy).

In Oklahoma, Enel Green Power has completed and connected the Drift Sand and Chisholm View II projects to the local power grid. The Drift Sand windfarm, which is located in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, is utilizing 36 Vestas wind turbines, and the Chisholm View II, located in Garfield County, is an expansion of the existing 235-MW Chisholm View windfarm to bring the site's total installed capacity to 300 MW.

The Cimarron Bend Wind Project, located south of Minneola, Kansas, was developed by Tradewind Energy (Lenexa, Kansas) before its acquisition by Enel Green Power. The windfarm has 200 Vestas V110 wind turbines, and can generate enough power for 400,000 homes and businesses.

Enel Green Power North America has two other major utility-scale projects under construction: the 150-MW Lindahl Wind Project in North Dakota and 150-MW Aurora Solar Project in Minnesota. Both projects are slated to start commercial operations in first-quarter 2017, adding to Enel Green Power's growing energy portfolio. The wind projects that were completed this month qualify for U.S. renewable energy production (PTC) tax credits.
