Enel Green Power Starts Up 200-MW Goodwell Windfarm in Texas

(Rome, Italy), recently brought a 200-megawatt (MW) windfarm online in Goodwell, Texas. The windfarm comprises 100 Vestas V100-2.0 wind turbines.

Renewable Energy Systems Incorporated (Broomfield, Colorado) oversaw engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) aspects of the $400 million project. Construction began in the first quarter of 2015.

The U.S. branch of Aarhus, Denmark-based Vestas Wind Systems A/S, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, is covering the turbines under a warranty period. Vestas also holds a strategic asset management (SAM) agreement, which covers operations and maintenance duties through the terms of the contract.

Next year, Enel Green Power is slated to complete the 108-MW Drift Sand Windfarm in Oklahoma.

It also has a 114-MW windfarm in the pipeline. The Riverview Wind project, to be located in Alberta, Canada, is scheduled to be completed in 2018.

Enel Green Power owns about 1,752 MW of wind powered generation in the U.S. and Canada. This includes 449.55 MW in Idaho, 298.8 MW in Oklahoma, 248.13 MW in Kansas, 235 MW in Nevada, 190.2 in Alberta, 263 MW in Texas, 30.37 in Minnesota, 30 MW in New Hampshire and 6.6 MW in New York.
