ENEOS Plots BESS Units at Refineries in Japan

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--ENEOS Corporation (Tokyo, Japan), which runs nine refineries across Japan, is turning to battery energy-storage system (BESS) units to conserve surplus energy. One is under construction, and the company expects to install more at its refineries in the future.

The unit under construction is at ENEOS' Muroran Petroleum Products Terminal, which had been a refinery until its conversion to a terminal was completed in early 2019. The BESS unit is expected to begin operations toward the end of first-quarter 2024.
