Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)-- Industrial Info is tracking billions' worth of U.S. Food and Beverage Industry projects that are set to begin construction in the second quarter, including $10 billion that have a medium or high (70-99%) chance of moving forward as scheduled. More than 40% of the total investment is attributed to grassroot projects.

The highest-valued project is Producer Owned Beef's (Amarillo, Texas) $670 million grassroot meat packing plant in Amarillo, where full construction is expected to begin in June. Site preparation for the plant, which is designed to process 3,000 head of cattle per day, is underway. Last month, the Amarillo City Council granted an extension for the project's construction completion deadline to December 31, 2028. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Food & Beverage Project Database can learn more from a detailed project report.

Another grassroot project set to begin next quarter is Epitome Energy's (Red Wing, Minnesota) $455 million soybean crushing and extraction plant in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The plant is designed to process up to 42 million bushels of soybeans annually into oil, meal and hulls. Operations are expected to start in 2026. Subscribers can read a detailed project report.

Industrial Info also is tracking two $100 million-plus grassroot projects from the baked goods sector that are set to kick off in May. South Korea-based SPC Group's (Seoul) $160 million frozen baked goods plant in Burleson, Texas, is designed to produce bread and pastries for SPC Group's various brands, including its bakery-café franchise Paris Baguette, in a 267,000-square-foot facility. Construction is expected to wrap up in 2027.

SPC officials reflected on the project in a statement to Area Development Magazine last month: "The push was accelerated since the global market and U.S. industrial policies, including customs, have been changing rapidly since the Trump administration's second run." Subscribers can learn more from a detailed project report.

Meanwhile, Irresistible Foods Group (Gardena, California), the parent company of King's Hawaiian Bread, will soon break ground on a 368,000-square-foot, $180 million plant in Bartholomew County, Indiana. The plant is expected to be ready for service in late 2026. Subscribers can read a detailed project report.

In terms of in-plant capital projects, Doehler (Darmstadt, Germany) will begin the Phase 1 expansion of its Cartersville Natural Ingredients Plant in Georgia, to increase production capacity of compounds, liquid flavors, extractions and syrups. Construction is expected to wrap up around the end of 2026. Subscribers can learn more from a detailed project report.

Renovation projects also are set to kick off at food and beverage plants next quarter. One at Nestlé Purina PetCare Company's (Saint Louis, Missouri) pet food plant in Jefferson, Wisconsin, is set to wrap up around the end of the year, while one at Walmart's perishables distribution center in New Braunfels, Texas, is expected to wrap up in March 2026. Subscribers can read more information on the pet food and cold storage projects.
