Japanese Refiners Plan Chemical-Recycling Units

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Japan is upping its requirements for oil-refining companies to reduce their carbon emissions. Idemitsu Kosan Company Limited and Taiyo Oil Company Limited are following suit with a pair of proposed chemical-recycling projects.

Idemitsu Kosan plans to construct a chemical-recycling unit to produce hydrocarbon oil from waste plastic by 2030, and Taiyo Oil aims to produce biodiesel and bio-naphtha from waste tires by 2028. Specific schedules have yet to be decided for these projects.
