Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Japan's ethylene market is in poor condition due to an oversupply of ethylene and the successful operation of ethylene units in China.
Maruzen Petrochemical Company Limited decided to permanently halt operations on its 1,157 million-pound-per-year ethylene (3EP) unit by 2027. The unit will then be demolished.
ENEOS Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) also decided to permanently stop one out of two ethylene units in Kawasaki by 2028.
In addition, Idemitsu Kosan Company Limited (Tokyo) will permanently stop the 824.5 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit at its Chiba Plant by March 2027.
