MidAmerican Energy Company is on schedule to spearhead three projects in the U.S. Midwest region this fall, as it continues to make Iowa one of the strongest wind energy states in the region.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In 2012, MidAmerican Energy Company (Des Moines, Iowa) spearheaded three projects in the U.S. Midwest region that totaled more than 300 megawatts (MW) of wind energy. It is on schedule to do the same thing this fall, as it continues to make Iowa one of the strongest wind energy states in the Midwest. MidAmerican is a subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, which is 89.8% owned by Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK-A) (Omaha, Nebraska).

MidAmerican is scheduled to begin construction on three projects this fall in Grundy, Webster and O'Brien counties. Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) has provided at least 510 SWT-2.3-108-model wind turbines throughout the construction of these projects in the last year; 380 turbines will be utilized on these projects. Collectively, the projects will total more than 850 MW of renewable energy. When completed, MidAmerican Energy will have added more than 1 gigawatt of renewable energy to the Midwest region.

Wanzek Construction (Fargo, North Dakota) will act as the general contractor for the Lundgren project. M.A. Mortenson Company (Minneapolis, Minnesota) will provide the engineering, procurement and construction services for the Wellsburg and Highland projects.
