Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The coal-fired Sioux Power Plant, which is located in West Alton, Missouri, shut down its 549-megawatt (MW) Unit 2 on June 19 due to a boiler penthouse leak. The station is owned by Ameren Corporation (NYSE:AEE) (St. Louis, Missouri).

Officials at the plant said they are making repairs, but will continue to investigate the cause. They say the unit could be ready for service on Monday, June 29, if there are no further delays.

The Sioux plant has two generating units and a total capacity of 1,100 MW when at full load.
