China's Russian Crude Oil Imports Reach New High in 2024
- China's crude oil imports from top supplier Russia were up 1% in 2024 to a record high versus 2023, while purchases from Saudi Arabia dropped 9%, data showed on Monday, as refiners chased discounted Russian supplies to cope with weakened margins. Volumes from Russia amounted to 108.5 million metric tons, according to China's General Administration of Customs, equivalent to 2.17 million barrels per day (BBL/d). (Reuters)

About 12% of North Dakota's Crude Oil Production Shut In
- North Dakota's oil production was estimated to be down by between 125,000 BBL/d and 150,000 BBL/d due to extreme cold weather and related operational challenges, the state's pipeline authority said on Monday. North Dakota is the third-largest oil-producing state in the country, and the impacted production represents about 12% of the region's 1.1 million BBL/d of oil output, based on data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). (Reuters)

Final Permit Issued for SouthCoast Wind Project off Massachusetts
- The up-to 2.4-gigawatt SouthCoast Wind project off Massachusetts has cleared the last step in the permitting procedures after its Construction and Operations Plan was greenlit by the U.S. government. The approval was issued by the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on Friday, about a month after the project received a positive Record of Decision from the Department of Interior.
