Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking more than $1.5 billion worth of projects that are under construction in Oklahoma. In terms of project value, the Power Industry leads the state, thanks to some large windfarms. This is followed by the Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry.
Leading the industrial construction activity in Oklahoma are two windfarms, representing about 500 megawatts (MW) of nameplate generating capacity. The larger of these, the 300-MW Seven Cowboy Windfarm, is being developed by Enel SpA (Rome, Italy) near Cordell. The facility will use 107 turbines, each with a capacity of 2.8 MW. The 25 Mile Creek Windfarm also is being built by Enel near Gage. The facility will consist of 60 4.16-MW wind turbines to achieve 250 MW of total nameplate capacity. Both facilities are in the commissioning phase. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence Power Project Database can click here for the report on the Seven Cowboy facility and click here for more information on the 25 Mile Creek Windfarm.
The Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry also is making a strong showing in Oklahoma. Among the largest projects in this sector is Gardner Tanenbaum Holdings' (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) Convergence life sciences and research and development campus in Oklahoma City. The multi-building, mixed-use development will total approximately 400,000 square feet, including 50,000 square feet of laboratory space, and will be able to house multiple life science- and technology-based tenants. General contractor Lingo Construction Services Incorporated (Oklahoma City) kicked off construction last year, and the project is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024. Other life science-based projects underway in the state include Oklahoma State University's (Stillwater, Oklahoma) new agricultural science research building at its Stillwater campus. The project kicked off construction in 2021 and entails constructing a three-story, 190,000-square-foot building equipped for multidisciplinary scientific research. Construction is expected to be completed later this year. Subscribers can click here for the full report.
Rounding out the top three industries by overall project value is the Industrial Manufacturing Industry. Among these projects is Muncie Power Products Incorporated's (Muncie, Indiana) grassroot truck parts manufacturing facility in Tulsa. Construction on the 200,000-square-foot facility kicked off in the summer of 2020. Upon completion, which is expected in the coming months, the facility will manufacture power take-offs and fluid power components for commercial trucks. Other automotive-based projects underway in the state include Lyseon KK's (Tokyo, Japan) renovation of a previously vacant building into a manufacturing plant for bus bodies. The project, which kicked off last year, includes modifications to the building and structure as well as the addition of new production equipment. The project is expected to wrap up in the near future. Subscribers can click here for more information.
In Muskogee, Georgia-Pacific LLC (Atlanta, Georgia) is underway with a major expansion of its paper mill, which produces tissues, napkins and paper towels. The expansion project kicked off last year and entails adding a new production line to increase capacity. The mill currently produces 331,000 tons per year of paper products. Construction is expected to wrap up in 2025. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Pulp, Paper & Wood Project Database can click here for the full report.
