The pipeline project involved improvements to existing pipeline infrastructure and the addition of 27 miles of new pipe. Construction began in the third quarter of 2016, with WHC Incorporated (Broussard, Louisiana) acting as general contractor. The pipeline will transport up to 700 million cubic feet per day of natural gas to Sempra's facility. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the compressor station, Lake Arthur pipeline loop and Franklin pipeline loop.
Stanley Chapman III, president of TransCanada's U.S. Natural Gas Pipelines division, said, "The completion of Cameron Access creates significant value for our customers by providing additional connectivity for their domestically produced natural gas to the high-value U.S. Gulf Coast LNG export market."
Construction on Sempra's Cameron LNG plant began in late 2014 and is expected to be wrapped up in late 2019. The facility is being constructed on the site of a previous LNG regasification terminal. When completed, the plant will have a production capacity of 15 million metric tons per year of LNG via three production trains. Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (NYSE:CBI) (The Hague, Netherlands) is performing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) on the project, which has an estimated TIV of $10 billion. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
The pipelines transporting natural gas to LNG terminals are a necessary part of the construction process. Cheniere Energy Incorporated (NYSE:LNG) (Houston, Texas), through its subsidiary Cheniere Corpus Christi Pipeline LP, is underway with construction of a natural gas pipeline to feed its LNG liquefaction plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, which is on track to begin production next year. The 23-mile, 48-inch-diameter pipeline will begin near Sinton, Texas, and will have interconnections with the Kinder Morgan Incorporated's (NYSE:KMI) (Houston) Tennessee Gas and Tejas pipelines and Williams Companies' (NYSE:WMB) (Tulsa, Oklahoma) Transcontinental Gas Pipeline, among others. Construction on the pipeline began in late 2016 and is expected to be wrapped up soon. Associated Pipe Line Contractors Incorporated (Houston) is the general contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the pipeline and compressor station.
Boardwalk Pipeline Partners LP (NYSE:BWP) (Houston) recently completed the pipeline portion of the Coastal Bend Header Project, a 66-mile pipeline that will feed ConocoPhillips' (NYSE:COP) (Houston) LNG terminal near Freeport, Texas, which is scheduled to be in service later this year. Construction on a few compressor stations has not been completed, but these are planned to be in service before the LNG facility begins operating. For more information, see Industrial info's project reports on the pipeline and compressor stations in Wharton, Spring, and Pineland in Texas.
