News highlights gathered by Industrial Info and IIR Energy (Sugar Land, Texas) dealing with the energy markets.
NATURAL GAS
U.S. Sees Smaller-than-Average Natural Gas Storage Injection - The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said utilities added 41 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of gas into storage during the hotter-than-normal week ended July 14. That compares with a five-year (2018-2022) average increase of 45 Bcf. (Reuters)
PRODUCTION
Sinopec's Natural Gas Production Higher in Year's First Half - Chinese state-owned energy giant Sinopec's natural gas production in the first half of 2023 rose 7.6% from a year before to 666.1 billion cubic feet, according to a filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange released on Thursday. The company's crude oil production over the same period was broadly flat from last year, extracting a total of 139.7 million barrels over the period. (Reuters)
POWER
Wisconsin Solar Project Stalled for Investigation - Work on a 200-megawatt solar farm in Paris, Wisconsin, is on hold as federal investigators try to determine whether solar panels purchased for the project were made with forced labor. The targeted completion date has now been set for the end of the year as the panels needed to finish the project are sitting in a Chicago-area warehouse, waiting for a review from U.S. Customs and Border Protection to ensure they were not made with forced labor from China. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Power Project Database can click here for more details on the project. (NPR)
