Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) has approved US$1.54 billion (56.95 billion baht) worth of projects, including Southeast Asia's first bio-ethylene plant, as well as data centers, power plants and hospital that will help Thailand's commitment to environmental protection and digital transformation. The US$525.3 million (19.3 billion baht) investment from Braskem Siam Company Limited, the joint venture between Brazil's Braskem (Sao Paulo) and Thailand's SCG Chemicals (Bangkok), is for the construction of a plant at the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong Province that would produce up to 200,000 tons per year of bio-ethylene utilizing ethanol derived from sustainably renewable agricultural products. The plant will use Lummus Technology's (Houston, Texas) EtE EverGreen technology.
