U.S. Drillers Add Rigs - The U.S. oil and gas rig count rose four to 763 in the week ending September 16, its highest since August, energy services firm Baker Hughes Company (NYSE:BKR) (Houston, Texas) said. U.S. oil rigs rose eight to 599, while gas rigs fell four to 162. (Reuters)
TotalEnergies in Gas Exploration Deal with Oman - TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) (Courbevoie, France) said in a statement on Friday it had signed a natural gas exploration and production sharing agreement with the Oman energy ministry. The deal concerns an area called onshore Block 11, with a first exploration well to be drilled in 2023. TotalEnergies will hold a 22.5% interest in the block, OQ (Muscat, Oman) 10% and Shell plc (NYSE:SHEL) (London, England), holding 67.5%, will be the operator. (Reuters)

Russia's Gazprom Loads First Cargo from New LNG Plant - Russia's energy giant Gazprom (Moscow) has loaded its first cargo from the Portovaya liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant close to the Russia-Finland border, which has a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum. The $1.62 billion plant, built on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, is located in the proximity of the Portovaya compressor station of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline to Germany.
