Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Just two weeks after announcing it would speed up permitting for 10 U.S. mining projects, the Trump administration said Friday it plans to fast-track another 10 projects.

The White House announced the first 10 projects in mid-April, with a press release noting the administration is dedicated to "securing a domestic critical minerals supply chain that supports national security, job creation and long-term economic growth."

For information on the initial projects, see April 22, 2025, article - Trump Fast-Tracks Permitting for Mining Projects.

The 10 new projects feature mines for copper, uranium, silver, gold, lead, zinc, platinum and other minerals. Among the projects are:
The project push is in direct response to President Donald Trump's March 20 executive order that, according to a White House press release, directed the National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC) to identify "priority projects that can be immediately approved or for which permits can be immediately issued, and take all necessary or appropriate actions within the agency's authority to expedite and issue the relevant permits or approvals."

For more information on the order, see March 24, 2025, article - Trump Order Focuses on Developing Domestic Minerals.

Another development poised to boost domestic capacity is the White House's recent minerals deal with Ukraine, which would give the U.S. priority in accessing and developing Ukraine's deposits of critical minerals in return for supplying military aid for Ukraine in its war against Russia. The deal still needs to be ratified by Ukraine's parliament. For more information, see May 2, 2025, article - U.S., Ukraine Agree to Minerals Deal More Favorable to Ukraine.
