News highlights gathered by Industrial Info and IIR Energy (Sugar Land, Texas) dealing with the energy markets.
PRODUCTION
Alberta Wildfire Disrupts Oil Operations - A wildfire in the Canadian province of Alberta prompted the temporary shutdown of some oil and gas production and forced residents of a small town to evacuate. The blaze, which Alberta Wildfire said is approximately 1,600 hectares in size, is burning out of control about 7 kilometers north of the town of Swan Hills in the northern part of the province. Oil and gas producer Aspenleaf Energy (Calgary, Alberta), which has wells in the area, evacuated its local field staff and temporarily halted operations, shutting in approximately 4,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of production. LNG
U.S. Regulators Greenlight Construction of Venture Global's CP2 Plant - U.S. regulators have given Venture Global LNG (Arlington, Virginia) permission to proceed with construction of its CP2 liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Louisiana, a document from the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) showed on Friday. If constructed, CP2 will be the single largest LNG export facility in the U.S. and help the country remain the world's largest exporter of the superchilled gas. It also could make Venture Global the largest U.S. LNG company. BLM Takes Comments on NextEra Nevada Solar & Storage Project - The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has opened a public comments session regarding a proposal calling for the construction of an up to 200-megawatt (MW) solar park with battery storage in Nevada, partly on public lands. The project is being developed by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Incorporated (Juno Beach, Florida). Feedback related to the proposed construction and operation of the Dodge Flat II solar park will be accepted by June 20, the Department of Interior (DOI) agency said. Dodge Flat II will be the second phase of the Dodge Flat Solar Energy Center, a 200-MW solar farm with a 50-MW battery that was brought live in 2022.
