Construction Progresses on OMNIS Bailey, CONSOL Coal-Waste Refinery, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Construction Progresses on OMNIS Bailey, CONSOL Coal-Waste Refinery, an Industrial Info Market Brief

CONSOL Coal Resources LP (Previously CNX Coal Resources) and OMNIS Global Technologies, LLC (Omnis Mineral) formed the joint venture Omnis Bailey, LLC in 2017 to develop a refinery to process waste coal at CONSOL Energy's Bailey coal mine complex in Pennsylvania and convert it into usable clean carbon fuel pellets (using the Hendricks Resources Technology process) and mineral product fertilizer.

The first 25 ton-per-hour production module is being constructed near Bailey's Central coal preparation plant in Graysville, Pennsylvania. Site preparation and foundation work on the first commercial-scale facility began in June. The module is expected to be commissioned sometime in the first half of 2020. Once operational, the module will be capable of processing 200 tons per hour of waste coal. At full capacity, the plant will have eight modules converting as much as 4,900 tons per day of waste coal. There is currently no official timetable for the remaining seven modules. A pilot plant, in the same location, came online in 2017.
