Port Blockade Gives First Quantum New Headache Over Panama Copper Mine

November 21, 2023--Written by Amir Richani for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--First Quantum Minerals (Vancouver, British Columbia) said on Monday its Cobre Panama mine has scaled down operations to one ore-processing train, due to a protester-driven port blockade that is preventing access to supplies needed to operate the facility. The Canadian miner said that operations could be further hampered if protesters continue to block the Punta Rincon port, which is the mine's terminal.
