Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The blaze that started in one of Motiva's Convent, Louisiana, refinery units Thursday morning has been put out.

According to St. James Parish Sheriff Willy Martin, the fire was out at around 3:30 p.m., news accounts said.

Motiva is a 50:50 joint venture between subsidiaries of Royal Dutch Shell plc (NYSE:RDS.A) (The Hague, Netherlands) and Saudi Aramco (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia).

Shell Business Development Manager Hugues Bourgogne told reporters, "The affected unit is shut down, and the rest of the site is running." However, he would not specify what specific units were still in production. No repair and restart timeline has been established.

Bourgogne also confirmed that air emissions caused by the fire did not reach levels that would require evacuation by surrounding residents.
