GreenHunter's Houston Ship Channel Biodiesel Plant Shooting for April '08 Start-up

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)-- GreenHunter Energy Incorporated (AMEX:GRH) (Grapevine, Texas) and its wholly owned subsidiary GreenHunter BioFuels Incorporated (Houston, Texas) are shooting for an April '08 start-up on their new biodiesel production facility at a prime location on the Houston ship channel.

The company acquired the 28-acre site from waste-oil refiner Channel Refining Corporation in early 2007 and took the existing plant to the ground and started rebuilding. The company is utilizing its own process technology and acted as its own general contractor, selecting contractors and procuring equipment.

At 100 million gallons per year of capacity, the plant will be the largest of its kind on the Gulf Coast and one of the largest in the country. The plant will use its prime shipping location to import palm oil feedstock and to ship biodiesel and glycerine end products to markets throughout the country.

The site has first-class transportation infrastructure that includes on-site access to barge, rail and truck shipping, and a storage capacity of 500,000 barrels.

GreenHunter is expected to begin commissioning and testing production equipment within the next 30 days and expects to be in full production by April 1, 2008.

Currently, there are only four biodiesel plants operating in the area. Galveston Bay Biodiesel in Galveston, Green Earth Fuels in Galena Park, Momentum Bio Fuels in Pasadena and Dow Haltermann in Houston. Three additional plants are expected to be built in the Houston area and in Galena Park, Seabrook and Texas City.
