Aberdeen Energy Targets June 1 Grind for South Dakota Ethanol Plant

The plant has been under construction since November 2006, and construction activity is wrapping up with the scale house completed. The start-up team is testing equipment and systems in anticipation of the June start-up. Once the corn grinding starts, the company will be on its way to producing 100 million gallons of ethanol per year from the site.

The team of ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) and Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota) designed and built the estimated $200 million plant, and some 38 million bushels of corn will be ground annually to produce the fuel.

When the Mina plant comes online, it will be the 15th fuel ethanol plant operating in South Dakota. The 15 plants combined have the capacity of producing more than 935 million gallons of ethanol annually.
