Construction Begins on Ameren's Baldwin-Rush Island Transmission Line

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Construction began in June on the 345-kilovolt (kV) Baldwin-to-Rush Island transmission line. Ameren IP (Decatur, Illinois) and its transmission group, Ameren Illinois Transmission, subsidiaries of Ameren Corporation (NYSE:AEE) (St. Louis, Missouri), will retain ownership of the line.

The 30.2-mile, overhead, single-shaft, steel-pole reinforced, single-circuit, high-voltage, 345-kV line will run from Ameren's existing Baldwin Substation (Baldwin, Illinois) to Ameren's Rush Island Power Station (Festus, Missouri). The line would cross Randolph and Monroe counties in Illinois and Jefferson County in Missouri.

MACTEC Engineering & Consulting Incorporated (Kennesaw, Georgia) was selected to provide engineering services, and L.E. Meyers Builders (Decatur, Illinois) was selected for the construction.

Project completion is expected in the last quarter of 2010.
