Invenergy Completes Construction of Third Phase of Grand Ridge Wind Project in Illinois

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Invenergy LLC (Chicago, Illinois) has completed construction and has commenced with full commercial operation of the $225 million, third-phase, 122-megawatt (MW) Grand Ridge Windfarm Project in La Salle County, Illinois, near the town of Ransom.

Construction for the project began earlier this year and was completed this fall. Invenergy commenced full commercial operation of the project earlier this month. The project consisted of installing an additional 81 GE Energy (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) 1.5-MW sle model wind turbine generators to the existing facility. The second phase of Grand Ridge was completed earlier this year, giving it a nameplate capacity of 167 megawatts. Now that the third phase is complete, the facility will be capable of producing 289 MW of renewable energy.

Gemma Renewable Power, LLC, a 50:50 joint venture between Gemma Power Systems (Glastonbury, Connecticut) and Invernergy LLC, provided the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services for the project.
