Blendstar Begins Shipping Ethanol from New Terminal in Mississippi

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held fuel terminal operator Blendstar LLC (The Woodlands, Texas) has begun receiving and shipping ethanol products from the company's new biofuels terminal in Collins, Mississippi. The estimated $2.5 million distribution terminal began construction in August 2009, which was completed in late December 2009.

Skids and modules for the terminal were fabricated and installed by Jorgensen Petroleum Incorporated (Evansville, Indiana). The terminal consists of four 30,000-gallon storage tanks and a throughput capacity of 7 million gallons per month.

The facility is located at 4556 Highway 49 North, on property owned by CHS Incorporated (Inver Grove Heights, Illinois) which is a joint venture owner of the terminal and has a semi-exclusive contract to deliver products to the terminal. The terminal is serviced by Canadian National Railway (NYSE:CNI) (Montreal, Quebec) and has nearby tank farm and pipeline connections through the Colonial and Plantation pipelines.

Green Plains Renewable Energy, Incorporated (NASDAQ:GPRE) (Omaha, Nebraska) also will utilize the new Blendstar terminal to expand biofuel distribution to the Gulf Coast region.

With the Collins terminal in operation, Blendstar operates nine terminal locations in the Southeast region and has an annual throughput capacity of more than 350 million gallons of product per year.
