Reported by Annette Kreuger, Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Just a few miles away from the crowds of fans, paparazzi and stars streaming into New York for the annual Tribeca film festival, the Pharmaceutical Industry is holding its own annual event in Manhattan. Although the Jacob K. Javits Center lacks the hip factor of Tribeca, this week it is the hot ticket in town for the major players of the Pharmaceutical Industry. The industry's biggest show--INTERPHEX 2010--is scheduled for a three-day run, April 20-23, 2010.
Open only to the trade, INTERPHEX will offer multiple floors of display booths, housing more than 700 companies and their wares, along with dozens of informative breakout conference sessions sponsored by the industry's leading product and service providers. With nearly $15 billion of capital projects scheduled to begin this year (reference Pharmaceutical Tracker - Online Database), more companies than ever are looking to the drug industry as their own prescription for profit. It isn't a pipe dream for an industry in which facilities can run from $250 to more than $1,000 per square foot to construct and equip.
The show will open with Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Matthews," headlining an INTERPHEX 2010 Keynote Panel Presentation on April 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The panel will focus on the hot topic of "Healthcare Reform and its Impact on the Biopharmaceutical Industry." Panelists include Matthews Hudes, U.S. managing principal, biotechnology for Deloitte's Life Sciences & Health Care Practice, and Mike Mawby, chief government affairs officer for Novo Nordisk.
A constant headliner, there is no lack of drama and excitement surrounding the drug industry (reference: 2010 Pharmaceutical and Biotech Industry Outlook). And pass the popcorn--INTERPHEX even has its own version of the Academy Awards, as the five divisional winners of Facility of the Year display and explain the projects that earned them their individual wins. Industrial Info will be on hand throughout the week, reporting on the winning projects and other key industry news.
