Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Japanese automotive manufacturer Koyo USA Corporation (Blythewood, South Carolina) has started constructed on a $130 million expansion of its automotive system and industrial component bearing manufacturing plant in Blythewood, South Carolina.
Site preparations began in February, with plans to double the existing bearing manufacturing plant by more than 500,000 square feet. The expansion, which is planned in phases, includes construction of a 267,000-square-foot addition to the existing manufacturing plant, and construction of a 32,700-square-foot addition to the existing office building. New equipment also will be installed within the existing manufacturing plant when the building is complete.
Overall completion of the expansion is expected by the end of the year. Approximately 175 jobs are expected to be created.
MB Kahn Construction Company (Columbia, South Carolina) was selected to provide design and construction services for the expansion, along with Sifco Mechanical Incorporated (Sumter, South Carolina), which was selected to provide mechanical services.
