Duke Energy Completes Florida Solar Plant
- Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina) announced that it has completed construction on the 74.9-megawatt (MW) Charlie Creek solar power plant in Hardee County, Florida. U.K.'s Boris Johnson Pledges Funding for Nuclear Plant - Britain will invest 700 million pounds (US$809.13 million) in Electricite de France's (EDF) (Paris, France) planned Sizewell C nuclear plant, outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Thursday, announcing his last major policy move before he steps down from the role next week. Britain still needs to attract private investors for Sizewell C. EDF plans to make a final investment decision on the project in 2023. Ramping up nuclear energy production would reduce Britain's reliance on natural gas, which made up around 45% of the country's electricity production last year. U.S. August LNG Exports Rise Slightly
- U.S. shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) rose slightly last month, showing they continue to be constrained by a June outage at the Freeport LNG plant in Texas. The plant's shutdown following an explosion has cut monthly U.S. exports by about four cargoes, or 1.6 million tonnes. The U.S. exported 6.25 million tonnes of LNG in August, slightly above the 6.16 million tonnes of July but still below the pre-explosion levels, according to preliminary tanker tracking data on Eikon.
