Engie Signs Another PPA Amid Texas Project Activity

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Engie SA (Paris, France) has signed another U.S. power purchase agreement (PPA) for its Texas-based renewable electricity, to supply consumer goods company Procter and Gamble (NYSE:PG) (Cincinnati, Ohio) from Engie's 250-megawatt (MW) Sun Valley Solar project. Industrial Info is tracking $4.8 billion worth of projects from Engie in the U.S. and Canada, including $3.1 billion of activity in the Lone Star State.

The Sun Valley project is part of Engie's more than 5 gigawatts (GW) of wind, solar and energy storage in operation or construction across North America, according to a related press release. Production at Sun Valley is expected to begin later this year.

In June, ENGIE North America inked a PPA with LyondellBasell Industries NV (NYSE:LYB) (Rotterdam, Netherlands) for 100 MW of power from Engie's 300-MW Limestone Windfarm in Groesbeck, Texas, about 40 miles east of Waco. The project entails utilizing 88 General Electric (NYSE:GE) wind turbines. Construction kicked off in January, and operations are expected to begin in late 2022. Engie is planning to construct a $650 million solar-plus-storage project in Temple, Texas. Construction on the 355.4-MW solar plant and 262.5-MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Five Wells PV Solar Center is expected to begin in late 2023, with completion a year later. Elsewhere in the U.S., the company has its sights on constructing the 200-MW North Bend Windfarm in South Dakota, and the 60-MW Horseshoe Bend PV Solar Plant in Greensburg, Kentucky.
