Harvest Midstream to Buy MPLX Assets for $1 Billion - Harvest Midstream (Houston, Texas), owned by the founder of privately held Hilcorp Energy (Houston), has agreed a deal to acquire $1 billion worth of natural gas gathering and processing assets from MPLX LP (Findlay, Ohio), the companies said on Wednesday. Harvest is set to buy about 1,500 miles (of pipelines that transport natural gas from the wellhead to larger lines that link with consumers, as well as 1.2 billion cubic feet per day of processing capacity, the companies said. Under the agreement, Harvest will dedicate around 12,000 barrels per day of natural gas liquids from these assets to MPLX for seven years beginning 2028. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter. (Reuters)

EQT to Buy LNG from Sempra's Port Arthur Phase 2 Project - A unit of Sempra Energy (San Diego, California) will supply 2 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 development project to EQT Corporation (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) for 20 years, the companies said on Wednesday. Sempra expects to make a final investment decision on the project in 2025. U.S. Crude Oil, Fuel Inventories Fall - U.S. crude oil stocks, gasoline and distillate inventories fell last week as demand rose, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday. Crude oil inventories fell by 2.4 million barrels to 418.3 million barrels in the week ending August 22, the EIA said. Distillate stockpiles fell by 1.8 million barrels in the week to 114.2 million barrels. U.S. gasoline stocks dropped by 1.2 million barrels in the week to 222.3 million barrels, the EIA said.
