Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, TX)--Industrial Info is currently tracking more than $1.5 billion in capital expenditures at cold storage and warehouse facilities across the U.S. and Canada in the Food & Beverage industry. This year alone, Industrial Info has identified over $600 million in new cold storage projects, including new builds and expansions of existing facilities. Individual investments range from $1 million to $90 million. The rising demand for chilled and frozen food products and growing trade activities are important factors driving the growth of the global cold chain market.
The three regions responsible for more than half the $1.5 billion are the West Coast, Great Lakes and Midwest regions. The West Coast region leads the growth with more than $534 million in total capital expenditures. The Great Lakes region trails with more than $293 million, and the Midwest is not too far behind with more than $228 million in capital investments currently being reported by Industrial Info Resources.
