Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Marquis Energy LLC (Hennepin, Illinois) expects an expansion project at the plant located in Hennepin, Illinois to be on-line by March. This project will double the plant's capacity for producing fuel ethanol.
After five years of delays, the project is expected to start bearing fruit as the plant's South unit will now add some 160 million gallons of production capacity, and, combined with the North unit that went into production in April 2008, will increase capacity to 300 million gallons per year.
The company first delayed the expansion project in late 2011 following a tax assessment dispute with the Putnam County Assessment Office in Illinois over the taxable assessed value of the facility. The South unit project began construction in early 2015, and parts of the plant are already up and running.
The estimated $180 million project was designed and constructed by leading ethanol plant builder Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota). The plant is now expected to grind over 100 million bushels of corn annually to produce fuel ethanol and also to increase the production of coproducts such as dried distillers' grains, used as a feed protein, and corn oil.
Coupled with the firm's Marquis Energy - Wisconsin LLC plant located in Necedah, Wisconsin, the company will have an overall production capacity exceeding 350 million gallons per year of fuel ethanol.
Marquis-Missouri Terminal LLC, part of the Marquis Energy family, has a new storage terminal and barge loading facility in Hayti, Missouri that went began operation in September 2012. The unit train terminal is located on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad line and the Mississippi River.
