NOVA Chemicals' 2,800 million-pound-per-year Olefins (Hot/Cold) ethylene unit at its petrochemical plant in Corunna, Ontario, remains offline. The unit shut down in late August and expectations are to attempt a restart at the end of September.

NOVA Chemicals also is performing a planned maintenance turnaround at its 485 million-pound-per-year Saint Clair polyethylene plant in Corunna, and expectations are to restart the plant in the first week of October.

The company recently completed construction and commissioning at its new, estimated 1 billion-pound-per-year Rokeby polyethylene plant in Corunna, and expectations are to attempt a startup in October once feedstock from the petrochemical plant is available.

Shell Nederland Chemie BV, in early September, kicked off an approximately two-month maintenance turnaround of the 672 million-pound-per-year ethylene oxide unit at its Pernis-Moerdijk Chemical Complex in the Netherlands.
