Gulf Coast Growth Ventures, a joint venture between ExxonMobil and Saudi Basics Industries Corporation (SABIC), shut down its 3,960 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit in Gregory, Texas on January 18, due to a process upset. Expectations are to attempt a restart before the end of the weekend.

BASF-YPC experienced a fire at the 1,433 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit at its Nanjing (Liuhe) Petrochemical Complex in China. Nippon Shokubai Company Limited is on schedule to perform a 62-day planned turnaround starting March 7 of the 361.6 million-pound-per-year Ethylene Oxide (EO) Unit at its Kawasaki Chidori Chemicals plant in Japan. Expectations are to restart the unit on May 7.
