Gulf Coast Growth Ventures, a joint venture between ExxonMobil and Saudi Basics Industries Corporation (SABIC), shut down its 3,960 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit in Gregory, Texas on January 18, due to a process upset. Expectations are to attempt a restart before the end of the weekend.

BASF-YPC experienced a fire at the 1,433 million-pound-per-year ethylene unit at its Nanjing (Liuhe) Petrochemical Complex in China. BASF-YPC is assessing the damage, and the restart date is currently unknown. Industrial Info is monitoring the situation and will release updates once more details become available.

Nippon Shokubai Company Limited is on schedule to perform a 62-day planned turnaround starting March 7 of the 361.6 million-pound-per-year Ethylene Oxide (EO) Unit at its Kawasaki Chidori Chemicals plant in Japan. Expectations are to restart the unit on May 7.
