Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--With its roadmap toward Net Zero by 2050, Vietnam is developing its Alternative Fuels Industry. Starting January 1, all gasoline circulated in Vietnam will be mandated to contain 10% ethanol, completing a nationwide transition to E10 biofuel.
Vietnam has six ethanol plants, but only two are operating stably: the Dong Nai Ethanol Plant, owned by Ethanol Tung Lam Company Limited (Hanoi), which has a designed capacity of 75,000 pounds per year; and the Dak Nong Ethanol Plant, owned by Duc Giang-Dak Nong Chemical Company Limited (Cu Jut), with a designed capacity of 50,000 pounds per year.
However, Central Petrochemical Biofuels Joint Stock Company, a member of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company (BSR) (Quang Ngai), plans to restart the Dung Quat Ethanol Plant by the end of the year. The plant, which has been shut down for more than 10 years, has a designed capacity of 100,000 pounds per year of bio-ethanol.
