PERTH, AUSTRALIA--January 29, 2013--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Perth, Australia)--Meridian Energy Australia (Victoria, Australia), a wholly owned subsidiary of Meridian Energy Limited (Wellington, New Zealand), has announced that construction has begun on the Mount Mercer Windfarm in Australia. The Victoria-based energy company has announced that the windfarm, located 30 kilometers south of Ballarat, Victoria, will have a generating capacity of 131 megawatts (MW). The project has an estimated value of about $260 million, and will use 64 Repower MM92 turbines, rated at 2.05 MW each, from German turbine manufacturer RePower Australia Pty Limited (Hamburg, Germany).
